Water-Based Pre-Applied Thread Adhesives: A Cleaner, Smarter Alternative from Tectorius®
Tectorius® is advancing fastener chemistry with Tec-Bond® 240. These innovative water-based thread adhesives are designed to directly replace traditional solvent-based products. They deliver reliable epoxy performance while offering a more environmentally responsible solution for global manufacturers.
Tec-Bond 240 is solvent-free, low-odor, and fully REACH and RoHS compliant. Engineered for demanding environments, it resists humidity and maintains extended shelf life once pre-applied to fasteners. The adhesive remains dormant until installation, when the shearing action triggers curing and bonding.
- Tec-Bond 240 is the water-based alternative to 3M™ 2353 pre-applied fastener adhesives (formerly known as Scotchgrip™)
Key specifications include:
- Operating temperature range: -40 to 150°C
- Epoxy chemistry, room-temperature curing
- Microencapsulated adhesive
- Viscosity: 200 to 1000 cPs
- On-part shelf life: 1 year or more from application date
- The standard color is sapphire, with specialty colors of yellow and green available
Tec-Bond 240 is available in two grades:
Industrial Grade: Tec-Bond 240-IN, our standard grade, is suited for general-purpose use.
Precision Grade: Tec-Bond 240-PR was developed with precision assemblies in mind where performance on titanium, stainless steel, special alloys, or plastics is needed.
