Tec-Flon 6000 is a family of masking and anti-fouling coatings engineered to protect fasteners and threaded components during electro-coating, painting, welding, and other surface finishing processes while simultaneously lubricating threads for improved installation performance.
Tec-Flon 6000 coatings are applied to fasteners, bushings, nuts, studs, and racking prior to surface finishing operations to prevent accumulation of e-coat, weld spatter, spray paint, powder coat, and similar byproducts on threaded and mating surfaces. The inert coating forms a reliable barrier that releases cleanly after processing, eliminating the need for re-tapping and reducing post-process cleaning requirements. Beyond masking, Tec-Flon 6000 functions as a thread lubricant, reducing driving friction, heat buildup, galling, and seizing during fastener installation. The coating also supports consistent torque-to-tension ratios and uniform clamp loads across production runs. Its low-heat application process prevents damage or discoloration to existing platings. The 6000 Series is available in multiple grades with varying degrees of lubrication, temperature resistance, hardness, color, and application methods. Custom grades are available for specialized applications.

Performance Advantages and Benefits
What finishing processes does Tec-Flon 6000 protect against?
Tec-Flon 6000 coatings resist adhesion of electro-coat, weld spatter, spray paint, powder coat, and certain platings. They are suitable for use in e-coat lines, paint shops, and welding operations where thread and mating surface protection is required.
Does Tec-Flon 6000 require parts to be cleaned before application?
Generally, no. Only parts with excess oil or significant surface contamination require pre-cleaning. This reduces process steps and handling time compared to conventional masking methods.
Are custom grades available?
Yes. Tec-Flon 6000 is available in custom grades to meet specialized lubrication, temperature, hardness, color, or application method requirements.
How does Tec-Flon™ 6000 eliminate the need for threadre-tapping after welding or painting?
Tec-Flon™ 6000 creates a highly reliable, non-stick anti-fouling barrier on the threads. When the component goes through welding, powder coating, or e-coat bath processing, the subproducts cannot adhere to the treated surface. Threads remain completely clean, ensuring smooth final assembly and entirely eliminating secondary re-tapping that can weaken structural integrity.
Can Tec-Flon™ 6000 coatings withstand the high temperatures of automotive paint ovens and welding environments?
Yes. Tec-Flon™ 6000 features an extreme operational temperature range of -250°C to 450°C, making it stable enough for both high-heat welding/curing ovens and severe cryogenic industrial applications without degrading or losing its protective qualities.
Does applying Tec-Flon™ 6000 alter the installation tension of automated fastener assembly?
Tec-Flon™ 6000 is engineered with a stable friction coefficient (typical K Value of 0.14). It acts as a dry-film lubricant that reduces thread galling and installation torque 'chatter', helping production lines achieve uniform clamp loads and highly predictable torque-to-tension ratios.
