For fastener distributors, relying on external processors for coating application can create challenges when orders are small, urgent or subject to last minute specification changes. Tectorius® offers a range of coating solutions designed to make selected applications practical in-house, giving distributors greater control over turnaround times, costs and quality.
Rather than replacing specialist processors for high volume work, Tectorius®’ solutions are aimed at applications where outsourcing can be less economical. Small batches can involve minimum order quantities, set-up charges, freight costs and extended lead times – limiting a distributor’s ability to respond quickly to customer requirements.
Tectorius offers three products specifically suited to bringing selected coating processes in-house –Vibra-Stop®, Tec-Bond® 240 and Tec-Lok™ Liquid Nylon 360°.
Vibra-Stop® is a vibration damping compound that can be applied directly to fasteners and assembly components without requiring part degreasing. It adheres to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and plated substrates, drying within minutes. Pre-coated parts can be stored indefinitely and remain removable and reusable without requiring the coating to be reapplied.
For threadlocking, Tec-Bond® 240 is a water-based, microencapsulated thread adhesive designed as an alternative to solvent-based pre-applied chemistry. REACH and RoHS compliant, it can be applied by hand at room temperature and offers an on-part shelf life of more than one year. The adhesive remains dormant until installation torque breaks the microcapsules, allowing coated fasteners to be handled, packaged and shipped like standard parts.
Meanwhile, Tec-Lok™ Liquid Nylon 360° provides distributors with an in-house alternative for nylon locking patches. Applied as a liquid formulation and cured using a common shop oven, it requires lower part temperatures than conventional powdered nylon patches, helping reduce the risk of plating discoloration. Its 360° thread coverage also supports locking performance and fluid sealing.
“By adopting these solutions, distributors can coat selected parts at the bench, without minimum quantities or an external freight cycle,” reports Tectorius®. “This can be particularly valuable for urgent orders, customer trials, and specification changes, while also providing greater control over application and traceability.”
